The mission is to build affordable housing for deserving families in Lee County, North Carolina incorporating the postulates of the Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) mission statement. The mission statement of the HFHI is as follows:
“Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with God and people everywhere, from all walks of life, to develop communities with God’s people in need by building and renovating houses so that there are decent houses in decent communities in which people can live and grow into all that God intended.”
The Sanford Area Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry, whose mission is to end homelessness and poverty housing in Lee County, North Carolina. Habitat utilizes volunteer labor and donated materials whenever possible, then sells the home at no profit with a no-interest loan to families who otherwise would be forced to live in substandard housing.
“The ultimate goal of Habitat for Humanity is to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the face of the earth by constructing and building adequate and basic housing. Furthermore, all our words and actions are the ultimate purpose of putting shelter on the hearts and minds of people in such a powerful way that poverty housing and homelessness become socially, politically and religiously unacceptable in our nations and world.”
